Read Along 6: How to Get the Most Out of Your English Lessons

At LingoLearn we know that you are currently investing a lot of resources, such as time, energy and money to improve your English. Although your teacher is there to guide you through the learning process, there are still a lot of things you can do to maximize what you get out of each and every lesson. So here are some tips that we hope you will find useful.

Be active!

1-Talk as much as possible and don’t worry too much about making mistakes. Your teacher will correct you when necessary.

2-Ask questions. If you don’t understand something during the lesson, ask your teacher to explain it again.

3-Bring up subjects that you’ve come across during the week and consider simulating (role playing) real life situations with your teacher (like writing an Email in English or talking with a client or colleague in English).

Review the material and do your homework assignments

Did you know that students who do their homework and review material between lessons get through much more material in significantly less time than those who don’t? If you don’t go over the lesson after class you won’t know where you need additional practice or what questions to ask your teacher.

Don’t be shy

Talk with your teacher about any difficulties you may be having or ideas you have about how to make the lessons more effective or interesting. Share your expectations with your teacher, so that he or she can connect to your vision and help you make it a reality. Remember, your teacher isn’t a mind reader. If you don’t tell him or her how you feel about the lessons, your teacher won’t be able to provide you with the highest level of service that you deserve. 
In addition, different students respond differently to different teaching methods, so what works for one student isn’t necessarily suitable for you; and of course you are the bestjudge of what works best for you. Such discussions should be part of an ongoing dialog(in English of course!) between you and your teacher.
